
About Us
Members of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and fellowship to preserve the traditions and promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps and to serve our community.
Welcome to the Lewis G. Watkins Detachment #1131 of the Marine Corps League. Our Detachment was chartered on April 3, 2003 and has over 40 members. We provide assistance to Marines, members and their families and support a variety of activities within Oconee County and surrounding areas.


Our Mission
The Mission of the Marine Corps League is to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of Marines and their families; serve Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and FMF Chaplains who wear or have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor; and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism.

Our Contributions

Provide aid for Marines/Marine Families in distress

Conduct Toys for Tots program in Oconee County

Conduct military funeral honors free of charge for any Oconee County Marine (with Honorable or General Discharge)

Support Boy Scouts, JROTC and other youth programs

Participate in parades, patriotic & veterans' events and honor ceremonies

Host an annual Marine Corps birthday celebration

Conduct fundraising for selected community service projects
